About My Community My Concerns
My Community My Concerns (“MCMC”) About us We are a Newcomer centered non-profit, serving as a gateway and a bridge to community life for Newcomers (immigrants, refugees, refugee claimants, migrant workers, foreign students and their families). We support connect and advocate for the Newcomers on all matters of immigration settlement and integration, equitable access to housing and work by helping newcomer communities find social and economic justice, we by provide orientation, providing the tools, resource network, agencies, referral to settlement agencies and professionals, like family doctors, food banks, lawyers, legal aid, financial systems and government departments. Our Story MCMC was established in 2020 by Samuel Kisitu during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic to fight for social and economic justice. This has been documented by journalists who featured Samuel Kisitu in the Toronto Star, CBC News, Matthew Best documentary and Downsview advocate. Because of his work, the City of Toronto's Access, Equity and Human Rights Awards in 2021, recognized Samuel Kisitu with a Honourable Mention appreciating his contributions and impact among newcomers. Vision An organization through which Newcomers can realize their full potential in their new home country. Mission MCMC supports Newcomers through the journey of making Canada their home.
