About My Sustainable Futures of Kansas City

Sustainable futures is a grass roots nonprofit seeking 501c3 status. We are based in faith and draw our direction from First Timothy, Chapter 4. Verse 4 tells us that everything that God has created is good, especially when received with Thanksgiving. This is particularly relevant with regard to food but certainly applies in many other areas. Verse 6 tells us to teach what we practice. This tells us to have integrity and to live a good example. This is why we want to have a demonstration project where average ordinary people are walking out what we are asking the rest of you to do. Verses 7 and 8 tell us to continue our education and grow our effectiveness and understanding and to not rest on our laurels. Verse 11 says: Command and teach these things. Verse 12 tells us to set an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. We believe that everything that the Lord gives us is a gift and verse 14 tells us not to neglect those gifts. Verse 15 tells us to be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. So, our approach to Sustainable living is: 1. To create a demonstration project that encompasses everything we teach. 2. To host an urban farm that teaches people how to grow their own food whether it be in a window in their apartment or on acreage. 3. To train people how to think about money sustainably 4. We will build a factory that will build sustainable homes and provide a maker space to support entrepreneurial efforts Do you want to know more?
