About My Tia's Place

My Tia’s Place is a nonprofit organization founded to support college students facing homelessness or housing insecurity. We believe that no student should have to choose between their education and a safe place to sleep. Inspired by the warmth and refuge of a "Tia’s house"—a cultural symbol in many Hispanic communities where a caring aunt provides a helping hand—we aim to be that supportive place for students in crisis. Our mission is to provide immediate resources like food, clothing, hygiene products, and school supplies while building a long-term vision of secure student housing. We are working toward establishing a dedicated living and learning space that offers shelter, study areas, and access to life skills education, all designed with college students in mind. At My Tia’s Place, we serve students enrolled in community colleges, four-year universities, and vocational programs, regardless of age. If you're in school and experiencing homelessness, we’re here for you. Our support system also includes workshops in financial literacy, tutoring, time management, job readiness, and wellness, helping students develop the tools they need to succeed both academically and personally. We’re currently focused on growing our organization by building partnerships, applying for grants, and seeking donations. Our dream is to purchase or build a facility that can house and uplift students, giving them the resources, dignity, and stability they deserve. We’re not just a nonprofit. We’re a movement to ensure that no student is left behind because of their housing status.
