SIYAKA RESTAURANT AND CATERERS trading as MZANSI RESTAURANT is a small township restaurant situated in Langa - 15km from the Cape Town City Centre. Mzansi opened its doors back in 2008 and was founded by local couple, Nomonde and Vukile Siyaka. The restaurant serves traditional African meals (particularly that of the isiXhosa Culture) which showcases South Africa’s diverse cultures and tastes. Visitors to the restaurant are spoiled for choice with a buffet style of sumptuous offerings ranging from grilled chicken, meat, traditional Beef Stew, Umbhako (Baked Bread), Umxhaxha (Butternut mixed with Corn Mealies wrapped with Aubergine), Umngqusho (Samp and Beans), Creamed Spinach, Malva Pudding, Braai, Chakalaka, Root Vegetables, Green Salads and more. As customers enjoy their meal, they are entertained by a Marimba Band, dancing and the powerful inspirational story of how the restaurant came to be. Customers also have the opportunity to give toasts and speeches about their experiences at the restaurant and their travels. Guests are also encouraged to dance to the tunes as the hosts teach them the steps to some of the country’s most beloved local dances. Mzansi also offers face painting, drum circles, bicycle rides and township tours which are available upon request. There is also an in-house artist who entertains guests by crafting his sand painting masterpieces, with the option to purchase as well.
