The Naifeh family's grocery business in Covington, Tennessee has a rich history spanning over a century. It began in 1910 when Joseph S. Naifeh, an immigrant from Beirut, opened his first grocery store. Over the years, the business grew, with Oney Joseph Naifeh taking over after his father's passing in 1929. Oney introduced many innovations to the store, including Covington's first meat market, bottle of milk, loaf of bread, and shopping carts. In the 1940s and 1950s, Oney expanded by acquiring other grocery stores in the area. His son, Joe, built a new store in 1963, and later, in 1994, Joe's son Judson joined the family business. The Naifeh family continued to expand and adapt, acquiring more stores and adjusting their business model to meet changing market demands. In 2014, facing challenging market conditions, they transformed their Covington store into a cost-plus-ten-percent format, which revitalized sales. In 2020, amidst the pandemic, they acquired the local Kroger store, undergoing extensive remodeling. In 2021, they relocated to the new site.
