About Nammo Sweden
Nammo is an international aerospace and defense company headquartered in Norway. With more than 3 600 employees, 27 production sites and a presence in 11 countries, Nammo is today one of the world’s leading providers of specialty ammunition and rocket motors for both military and civilian customers. Nammo Karlsborg is located next to the historical Karlsborg fortress at the western side of lake Vättern in Sweden. The ammunition production activities started in 1870 in the old Karlsborg fortress. Already in 1887 the factory was moved outside the fortress compound, where they remain to this day. Karlsborg employs around 240 people, and serves as Nammo’s primary hub for small caliber ammunition for use by assault rifles and other light weapons, including armor piercing and non-toxic/lead free ammunition. Nammo Karlskoga is located in Björkborn, 45 km west of Örebro in Sweden. The industrial history in Björkborn dates back to the late 19th century, when a chemicals factory was established at the site. What is today Nammo Karlskoga was established in the 1970s. The facility today employs about 150 people, and is mainly focused on explosive filling and final assembly of 40 mm, 57 mm and 155 mm ammunition. Nammo Vingåker is a demilitarization facility close to Vingåker outside Katrineholm, approx. 45 km south-east of Örebro in Sweden. The Vingåker facility has been engaged in demilitarization of ammunition for more than 40 years. The plant was established in 1967 as an assembly and explosives casting plant for the famous Swedish Carl-Gustaf system. Demilitarization operations started in early 1970’s and have from then grown to be the main activity. Today approx. 70 employees have their work at Nammo in Vingåker.
