About Nashville Humane Association
Nashville Humane Association (NHA) is committed to finding responsible homes, controlling pet overpopulation and promoting the humane treatment of animals. Incorporated in 1946 to protect the well-being of animals in Davidson County, NHA is one of the oldest service organizations in Nashville. Our services and activities: Pet Adoptions: NHA places more than 4,000 healthy and temperamentally sound animals into loving homes each year. Animal Resource Center: NHA provides information and referrals to individuals calling with animal related questions daily. From animal care, adoption, laws pertaining to animals and more, we can assist! Humane Education: NHA personnel travel throughout Davidson County teaching the responsibilities of pet ownership and humane treatment for all animals. We also schedule group tours of our facility, educating people on NHA’s various roles in the community. Community Outreach & Spay / Neuter: Rover, our “Big Yellow Bus”, travels throughout Davidson County providing free spay and neuter for those who wish to have their pets altered, yet can’t afford it. Rover’s mission is to educate the community about proper pet care, in an effort to keep Davidson County pets healthy and decrease the number of unwanted animals. Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteers play a vital role in enabling NHA to accomplish our mission. Volunteers serve in an array of roles from dog walkers to program and event assistants. Foster Care: Volunteers open their homes to foster sick and injured pets that require around-the-clock-care in a nurturing environment. Foster animals return to NHA as healthy, well-adjusted pets for placement in the adoption program.
