About National Electricity Roundtable
The NER was formed in 1994 with the main purpose to interface with federal ministries and have regular dialogue on topics related to the Canadian electric power industry. This includes policy/regulation related topics and technology development. The NER has two committees that work on specific tasks related to these topics. This focus is maintained today, as the Canada must meet net-zero objectives and targets. NER hosts two meetings per year where several ministries are regular participants, and they provide updates on activities within their purview. NER represents a diverse group of senior executives from all areas of the electric power industry, namely, electric power utilities, independent power producers, equipment suppliers, equipment manufacturers, engineering companies, construction companies, consultants, university, and federal government departments. Relationships are developed and business opportunities are created. Our mission is to integrate the interests, perspectives and expertise of all these parts of the Canadian electric power industry and develop policy positions that reflect the interests of the industry as a whole.
