Hi, we are a food / agri-tech start-up, utilising a unique, innovative extraction process to manufacture natural, healthy food ingredients from plants. We are raising money to build a commercial pilot plant based in Lincolnshire, UK. Our first product is inulin, a prebiotic, soluble fibre, from chicory root and have been making progress with growers to plant the industrial chicory in the UK next year in this area. Inulin is a well-established, imported ingredient in a range of UK processed foods including baked goods, snack bars, dairy and pet foods. We are also developing the ability to extract protein from plants (peas) and plant waste (rapeseed meal and brewers spent yeast) using this extraction equipment. Our IP is in the extraction process as well as the carbonation and precipitation approach. One of the key advantages of our process is the equipment it is low capex to build and modular so we will build multiple facilities close to growers in a distributed manufacturing model. This has both cost and sustainability advantages and gives growers flexibility in crop choices and rotations. From our early discussions it is clear that farmers are supportive of developing new products and opportunities.
