About Nature Rangers Wilderness Programs
Nature Rangers is a leading provider of immersive outdoor enrichment programs, serving Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, San Antonio and Medford. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing immersive outdoor enrichment programs for children in grades PK-7. Through a child-led, place-based educational approach, our mission is to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards by immersing children in hands-on exploration and scientific discovery in the great outdoors. At Nature Rangers, we believe that nature is the ultimate classroom - a place where children thrive, learn, and grow. Our experienced educators guide students through scientific investigations, creative nature-based activities, and interest-led exploration, encouraging them to follow their natural curiosity. Our philosophy centers on child-led discovery and place-based education. Rather than following a rigid curriculum, we create an environment where children can explore at their own pace, ask questions, and build a personal relationship with nature. We offer year-round programs and summer camps, providing families with flexible options to engage in experiential outdoor learning. By spending time in nature, children develop problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities, and a lasting sense of wonder. Studies show that time in nature improves mental health, emotional resilience, and cognitive development. Our programs provide a space where children can explore freely, build confidence, and develop a lasting connection to nature. Nature Rangers is more than an outdoor program, it's a movement towards preserving childhood and reconnecting children with the natural world. Our intimate classes maintain a 7:1 staff/student ratio. Our Directors have completed comprehensive Forest School and Naturalist training along with Environmental Ed., Emotional Development and Wilderness First Aid and Leadership.
