What’s a Medicaid Waiver? Medicaid waivers enable disabled people and their families to qualify for Medicaid benefits by ‘waiving,’ or bypassing, Medicaid’s income restrictions. With a waiver, parental income is no longer a factor – only the income of the disabled person is considered for eligibility. Waivers offer a wide variety of both medical benefits and community services. There are 10 Medicaid waivers available in Colorado. The Medicaid waiver application process is often daunting.
