About Navy League Sarasota-Manatee Council

Our Sarasota-Manatee Florida Council, established in 1956, has adopted 9 Military Youth Groups and 2 U.S. Coast Guard {USCG} Operations, the USCG Station Cortez and the USCG Cutters Resolute. We also support USCG Sector St. Petersburg and USCG Air Station Clearwater; all units are on the Central Florida Gulf Coast. The Youth Programs are: Venice High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC, Navy Junior ROTCs at North Port, Port Charlotte, Charlotte, and Lemon Bay High Schools, USCG Junior ROTC at Pinellas Park High School, Venice Middle School Young Marines, North Port Imagine School Young Marines, the Sea Cadets-the Maritime Eagles at Manatee School of the Arts, Palmetto. We raise donations to educate the public about the need for maintaining our American way of life via a strong U.S. Sea Services - the US Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and the US -flag Merchant Marine. The Council also provides support, such as scholarships, for young men and women. We advocate for all Sea Services Heroes of the United States of America. Some of the Sarasota-Manatee Council's many events are monthly dinners with superb speakers, an annual fundraising golf tournament, recognition luncheons and scholarships for our youth groups, dinners to recognize Sailor of the Quarter and an annual dinner to celebrate the important contributions of a dozen Sea Services Heroes Volunteers selected by their group leaders; other events are fundraising at fairs, and picnics to promote camaraderie--to name a few.
