About NEED Ice Cream

NEED is revolutionising the packaged ice cream market with premium, plant-based, gluten-free, affordable, and design-led products. We are on a mission to make plant-based indulgence mainstream, scalable, and globally recognised. Back in 2019, we felt that vegan ice cream on the market was by and large lacking in quality. We also noticed that ice cream fell primarily into two categories: super premium in take-home tubs or served in restaurants or high end ‘Gelaterias’ or cheap, sugar-loaded soft-serve or ice lollies aimed at children. What there wasn’t really on the market was an updated childhood ice cream experience, a high quality ice cream product that was at the same time indulgent and playful and adult without being pretentious - enter the ice cream sandwich, a wonderfully versatile treat that works both as a full sit-down dessert and a quick grab-and-go indulgence. We didn’t invent the ice cream sandwich but we updated it, both in terms of quality as well as look. We also made it vegan and gluten-free and thereby more inclusive. Since those earliest days, we have diversified our product palette by adding chocolate-covered ice cream bars, alcoholic ice lollies and - from this December - mini ice cream sandwich multipacks, have expanded from retail into foodservice and pop-up street food and have established an efficient business-to-business and direct-to-consumer operation.
