About Neighborhood Housing Services of New Britain
Mission: TO REVITALIZE AND STABILIZE CENTRAL CONNECTICUT NEIGHBORHOODS, MAKING THEM DESIRABLE ENVIRONMENTS OF CHOICE, WHERE DIVERSE INDIVIDUALS CAN LIVE, WORK, GROW, AND PROSPER. Neighborhood Housing Service of New Britain, Inc. (NHSNB, Inc.) is a non-profit housing corporation that has been providing housing-related services to neighborhoods in New Britain and Central Connecticut for 38 years. Originally created to assist existing owners to repair and improve their homes, the mission of NHSNB, Inc. has broadened over the years to include helping first-time homebuyers to buy and maintain a home, preserving local properties, and regenerating local neighborhoods through reinvestment and community involvement. NHSNB, Inc., is a HUD-certified Community Housing Development Organization and Local Housing Counseling Agency. NHSNB, Inc., is a chartered member of NeighborWorks America, a federally supported organization that sets standards, provides funds, training and technical assistance, and promotes accountability to resident leaders of the neighborhoods in which we work. NHSNB, Inc., owns and manages 5 buildings containing 25 rental units and 6 commercial spaces. We played a key role in the revitalization of the Broad Street neighborhood. We own and occupy an office there that includes our classroom, serving 50 to 100 people per month. We are completing two, two-family homes on Beaver Street that will be sold this year to two low-moderate-income families. Our community building and engagement program ,is focused on the North Oak and Arch Area NRZs. We provide leadership training, outreach tools, economic and housing development assistance..
