About Neighbourhood NZ

Neighbourhood NZ is a registered charity that aims to provide meaningful social opportunities for long-lasting community impact and human connection. There is an obvious need to ensure that community development, social opportunity and charity involvement is accessible, inspiring and empowering for youth in Aotearoa. Neighbourhood exists to create inclusive campaigns and events that aim to better both ourselves, our planet and those around us. We have a strong focus on mental health and wellbeing, and work to educate and empower communities throughout Aotearoa New Zealand by providing resources, platforming lived experience and creating safe environments to deconstruct and discuss subjects that are heavy or “taboo”. We have recently shifted to prioritising our virtual space equally to our physical events. In a post-covid fragmented world, many barriers still exist around person to person contact - financially, physically and emotionally. Therefore we aim to grow our online community, complete with interactive blog spaces, science communication resources and virtual event opportunities in order to reach anyone who needs a sense of community or connection. A team of 14 passionate young kiwis volunteer their time, allowing 100% of the money we raise to be donated directly to other important New Zealand charities or facilitate free and accessible events. We are founded on the belief that looking after your neighbourhood - socially, environmentally and through fostering inclusive and genuine human connection - will ultimately lead to a more positive experience for us all.
