SYNOPSIS The history of light is the history of humankind. From simple firelight in caves to Edison's bulb, humankind has not only needed to illuminate their home, but also their path. Today we live in an increasingly technological society: the advent of LED lighting has made a huge contribution to the possibility of lighting public and private spaces with a lower impact in terms of energy consumption, coupled with greater efficiency. A hundred years after their birth, neon lights - which fill the streets of cities around the world to attract our attention to a place, a product, a message - have been the precursors of a way of using light that represents the materialistic dreams of our time. In this documentary series we discover the origins and future of lighting not only in its commercial capacity, but as artistic expression, as a necessity, as a relevant part of new technologies and as a cultural narrative. ABOUT NEON AEON Neon Aeon was conceived in 2018 as a documentary film from an idea of the director Filippo Soevv, founder, together with Francesco Genua, of CiclopeVideo Intl. production. Today it is proposed as a larger project dedicated not only to the production of multimedia entertainment content on different online platforms but also to the creation of educational content, events aimed at bringing together all professionals in the sector, as a research platform on light and a specialised video production.
