About Nevada Petroleum and Geothermal Society

The Nevada Petroleum and Geothermal Society (NPGS) is a non-profit organization originally formed in 1986. Our mission is to foster the development and growth of the petroleum, geothermal and other fluid mineral industries in Nevada. We are based in Reno, Nevada and meet in person on the first Thursday of the month from September through May. Additionally we try to host a field trip each summer. Proceeds from donations and fundraisers are directed towards the Graduate Student Research Awards in Earth Sciences at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). We encourage anyone interested or involved in geothermal, petroleum, lithium or other energy mineral industries to join our group.
