New Financial is a new think tank and forum that believes Europe needs bigger and better capital markets to compete in the global economy – and that this presents a huge opportunity for the industry and its customers to embrace change and rethink how capital markets work. New Financial provides a private forum for senior individuals with different perspectives from across the industry – investors, issuers, banks, government and academia – to work together to address common challenges and help improve capital markets. It also commissions and publishes regular papers, analysis and research on the capital markets. New Financial has three main aims: 1. To make the positive case for capital markets as a force for economic good. With market structures under scrutiny, it is important to promote the vital role that healthy and well-functioning capital markets play in financing economic growth. 2. To encourage the reform and simplification of capital markets. In the wake of the financial crisis, market participants must rethink how they do business and raise their game in order to regain the trust of clients and policymakers. 3. To cut across vested sector interests and encourage more collaboration. The best way to achieve this reform is to cut encourage market participants from across the industry to work with each other to address common challenges.
