About New Focus Academy

New Focus Academy is a Specialized School and Autism Support Community for students ages 12-18 with Autism Spectrum (ASD) and similar neurodevelopmental difficulties, including cognitive, organizational, and/or emotional challenges. At NFA, research-based and pragmatic solutions are utilized to develop independence and self-esteem in their students. An overall relationship and brain-based approach is woven into individual, family, group, and recreation therapy. Academically, individualized education plans, vocational learning, and project-based opportunities are targeted for each student. There are only two (2) students per bedroom, access to private bathrooms, “sensory nooks” for student privacy, and plenty of space for students to learn and grow on our privately owned 5-acre campus. Our team uses sophisticated brain-based techniques and coaching strategies to increase independence and self-esteem in students who have prominent struggles with social interaction, organization, and judgment; such as: – Autism Spectrum Disorder – Neurodevelopmental Disorders – Social Pragmatic Communication Disorder – Nonverbal Learning Deficits/Disabilities – Attention disorders (e.g., ADHD) – Learning Disorders & Cognitive Deficits – Executive Functioning Deficits – Low Working Memory &/or Processing Speed – Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) – Controlled Psychosis & Mood Dysregulation New Focus Academy also offers The Autonomy House, an independent living opportunity for students to transition into their own lives. Life Focus Transitions is our young adult Autism Support Program, providing comprehensive support to individuals ages 18-22. Life Focus Transitions centers around supporting High School Graduation and practicing living in dedicated apartments while providing the necessary resources and growth opportunities for a successful, autonomous future.
