About New Mexico Renewable Energy Transmission Authority
NM RETA was created as a governmental instrumentality in 2007 by the NM Legislature to plan, finance, develop, permit, and acquire high voltage electric transmission and energy storage projects to connect renewable energy to the grid. NM RETA’s Board of Directors includes the State Treasurer and the Secretary of NM EMNRD and five appointees of the governor and legislative leaders. NM RETA can enter into agreements with private developers and can own and lease assets. Projects under these agreements offer tax and other benefits to developers.
