About New Opportunities Organization
New Opportunities Organization educates and empowers underserved communities through partnerships, vocational training, and supportive services to improve the quality of life of our students. Established in 2013, the New Opportunities Organization is a nonprofit public benefit corporation that manages 2 charter high schools in the major Los Angeles area. Our exclusive partnerships with various America’s Job Centers of California (AJCC) and with the County of Los Angeles, including the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, allow us to provide high school diploma completion services to students 18 years old and older at 7 community sites and 3 County jail facilities. Our Reentry Services provide additional support to our students and Alumni. Our reentry team is made up of social workers and para professionals who offer a range of services both inside of the correctional facilities and at our community locations as well as to the community at large. From mental health counseling, individualized case management to financial literacy workshops and expungement workshops, we work hard to meet the wide range of needs our students and our community members have. Recently New Opportunities Organization was awarded a Work Order through the County of Los Angeles Workforce Development, Aging, and Community Services (WDACS). The Work Order is entitled Prison to Employment (P2E) Supportive Services and Earn & Learn (SSEL) Program. This program will provide support services and “earn and learn” opportunities that offer immediate income for the justice-involved and formerly incarcerated as a way to support the frequent and significant life challenges and societal barriers of obtaining employment after incarceration. The 2023-2024 school year is looking bright and we are ready to continue to provide these vital services to our students, alumni and community members.
