About New York Consortium for Space Technology
The New York Consortium for Space Technology Innovation and Development (NYCST), led by Cornell University, is an agile, mission-driven collaboration that establishes a centrally located nexus for space-related education, infrastructure, expertise and capabilities aimed at catalyzing transformative growth in education, space technology, advanced manufacturing, and supply chain capabilities. Designated as a Defense Manufacturing Community under the Defense Manufacturing Community Support Program (DMCSP), NYCST bolsters innovation in space technology, supports small businesses, and addresses critical skills gaps in the sector. Development programs span four core domains — education & workforce development, facilities access, R&D and small business assistance. Distinctives of NYCST are its collocation with the Air Force Research Laboratory Regional Research Hub, the Cornell Center for Materials Research (CCMR) and Cornell University’s research capabilities that include one-of-a-kind facilities for materials science, nanofabrication, spacecraft development, testing and on-orbit operations, and the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS), a strategic national security asset and 1 of 5 facilities of its type in the world.
