The company boasts unique intellectual property, a seasoned development and design team, well-respected founders with a track record of success, a superior market reputation, and a cash-flow positive revenue stream. Founders Melissa Jordan Grey and Todor J. Fay saw immediate parallels between the surfacing of video technology in the 21st century and the rise of audio technology in the 90s. (The pair initially capitalized on the emergence of audio technology when they sold their first company, The Blue Ribbon SoundWorks to Microsoft in 1995.) They founded NewBlue on the premise that video would become an essential component in popular culture and the consumer marketplace. The company currently holds multi-year license deals with industry leaders Avid Corporation, Corel, Cyberlink, Magix, Pinnacle Systems, Grass Valley EDIUS and Sony Corporation. In 2011 and 2012, NewBlue released Vibop 1.0 and Vibop 2.0 respectively for Apple iPhone. While the app received consistent critical acclaim, the company chose to withdraw it from the market in 2013 to focus on its underlying technology, NewBlue VPX (video production engine) technology. The company is privately held.
