At Newfurn, we have been helping Australians decorate since 1959. Like many modern-day success stories, Newfurn can be traced back to humble beginnings. In 1959 a small group of independent Victorian furniture retailers met to discuss the possibility of forming an association to maximise the effectiveness of their business in the face of increased competition from large, franchised organisations. As a result of this initial meeting, Newfurn Floor Coverings Ltd was formed. Over 30 years later, in 1993, they launched the Carpet Choice brand with 17 stores in Victoria. Since then, after a further brand update, Choices Flooring has rapidly grown to over 140 stores across Australia. Since those early days, Choices Flooring has arguably become Australia’s most progressive retail floor coverings group and a major force in the Australian retail sector. Following the success of Choices Flooring, in 2013 Newfurn acquired a collection of premium retail stores specialising in wool carpets. Collectively known as WoolSet, these 20 independent stores are located across Australia. However as consumer lifestyles continue to evolve the relevance of the WoolSet brand started to diminish. As a result in 2017 the group re-branded to Style Flooring & Interiors, enabling them to re-connect with consumers and provide a solid platform for future growth. Expansion is key for our continual dominance within the flooring industry. This is why in 2016, Newfurn decided to investigate ways in which the Choices Flooring brand could enter the New Zealand market. Still in its investigative stage, a Retail Development Manager has been appointed with the task of recruiting new businesses.
