Created through a commercial partnership between the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Newcastle University, NewGene's offices and laboratories are based at the International Centre for Life in Newcastle upon Tyne. The NewGene team can draw on the outstanding academic and clinical expertise in the fields of genetics and molecular biology of the Institute of Human Genetics (IHG), which is housed in the same building and headed by Professor John Burn who is also a NewGene director.
