NEWS – Domestic Violence & Sexual Abuse Services has been a lifeline for survivors in Napa County since 1981. We believe that every person impacted by domestic violence or sexual assault has the power to heal, grow, and thrive. Our mission is to provide safety, hope, healing, and empowerment—and to create a stronger, safer community through prevention, education, and advocacy. What began over four decades ago as a grassroots effort—community volunteers opening their own homes to women and children fleeing abuse—has grown into a trusted, full-service nonprofit organization. Today, NEWS supports approximately 1,800 survivors and their families each year, offering a 24/7 crisis line, emergency shelter, individual counseling, legal and court advocacy, housing assistance, support groups, and specialized services for children and sexual assault survivors. We also invest in long-term community change. Through school-based education, prevention programs, and outreach partnerships, we work to shift harmful norms, promote healthy relationships, and reduce violence before it happens.
