Newton Neuropsychology is a community neuropsychological practice specializing in cognitive testing and training for adults. Areas of practice include consultation, clinical assessments, optimization of cognitive skills using a variety of leading-edge modalities, health psychology, and pain management. A psychological consultation or a neuropsychological consultation can be requested to obtain objective information and a clinical opinion about a specific concern. Examples could include: • Discussing a psychiatric or neurocognitive diagnosis and addressing adjustment concerns • Providing a second clinical opinion for treatment purposes • Psychoeducation regarding treatment options and prognosis • Reviewing and explaining the results of a previous psychological or neuropsychological assessment • Providing an opinion as to whether a psychological or neuropsychological assessment would be helpful Session-based clinical neuropsychological assessments can assist in: • Identifying a client’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses at baseline • Evaluating a client’s level of intellectual functioning • Diagnosing psychiatric or neurocognitive disorders • Helping to guide medical, psychiatric, or psychological treatment • Determining personal targets for cognitive training • Monitoring changes after cognitive training, psychological, or medical treatment We also offer cognitive training using advanced computerized systems, including: • NeurOptimal®, an EEG-based dynamical neurofeedback program • RehaCom® Cognitive Skills Training, a clinician-mediated program that contains multiple training modules across cognitive domains • Cogmed© Working Memory Training • Goal Management Training®, an interactive multi-module program for clients with executive function impairment Individual psychotherapy helps our clients overcome mental health or stress management challenges that interfere with optimal cognitive function.
