About NEXT Church

NEXT Church is a growing community of leaders — church members, ruling elders, youth leaders, educators, pastors, mid-council leaders, seminarians, and church professionals — who believe the Spirit is moving powerfully in the Church today, even as what it means to be Church is changing. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit who is rooted in the mainline protestant tradition. NEXT Church seeks to follow God by strengthening the relational fabric of church — connecting healthy tissue to healthy tissue. We do this by cultivating congregations and leaders who work in sustained, effective, and faithful ways to promote God’s transformation of our communities for the common good. We believe in order to change the systems around you, you have to start with yourself. When we begin with our own behaviors and actions to seek personal growth, we enter into the world transformed. The gathered Church is not an escape from the world. We believe it is a place where we practice new ways of being to resist to the ways of the world that lead to oppression and division. We return to our communities, schools, and workplaces changed so that we embody the transformative work that leads to justice and liberation.
