At NEXTGENSURGERY we see Surgeons and nurses as high performance athletes and our training reflects this concept. The DNA of elite performance is the same regardless of the domain. We apply proven principals used in other domains where peak performance under pressure matters. Surgery is a series of small steps performed perfectly and in a specific sequence, each step has a beginning and an end, its own focus. But critical moments challenge our abilities in situational awareness, decision making, focusing and communicating while still executing flawlessly. Surgical skill while critical, is only one factor in performance as the best skilled technician in any domain will never achieve mastery if they can't self regulate in critical moments. We apply scientifically validated objective metrics to target and train the cognitive, emotional and biobehavioral requisites of elite performance to develop stress resiliency, human factor training, in addition to skills training. Using non-invasive neurotechnology and BCI we perform a psychophysiological assessment which shows our strengths and areas where training is beneficial. With Applied Psychophysiology a program combining neurofeedback, biofeedback, sport performance psychology and more teaches you how to gain control of mind body states normally outside of conscious awareness. The software/hardware solution uses purpose built mobile biosensing wearable technology and brain computer interfaces that can be integrated with all HMD's so you can successfully learn to get in and stay in a zone of optimum performance. The system is compact and light for daily carry, allowing individuals to train anywhere, and anytime with constant feedback. Importantly, they then learn to transfer the skills from the controlled simulation environment into the uncontrolled performance environment of the operating room to improve patient safety and surgical outcomes.
