About NHS - Black Country Provider Collaborative

The Black Country Provider Collaborative (BCPC) comprises of four partner trusts: Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust The BCPC was initially formed in late 2020 to promote better partnership working between the four Acute Providers. The Black Country ICS has a c1.3m population across a relatively small geography embracing the boroughs Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall, and City of Wolverhampton in the West Midlands, and is served by four Acute & Community Providers. A detailed assessment of the health demographics can be found in the STP 2019-24 Strategic Plan, but it is worthy of note that in recent times we have observed: Deteriorating cancer health outcomes over the last 5 years in particular, A growing ‘elective’ backlog significantly impacted by the recent pandemic, Models of care driven by a previous competitive culture between Trusts needing improvement A number of services that could shortly be categorised as ‘fragile’ requiring urgent attention, And a healthcare system facing financial challenges The reputation and credibility of the healthcare system has not been assured by the low CQC performance ratings (3 of the 4 NHS Acute Trusts are rated as ‘Requires Improvement’ by the CQC, with the 4th at ‘Good’) and the parallel low NHS Oversight Framework (NOF) rating for all four NHS partners, with all rated at Level 3 Our Vision "One healthcare system, across multiple sites, working in partnership to provide better, faster and safer care to the population of the Black Country and beyond."
