About Nickel Support

Nickel Support is an award-winning Community Interest Company (CIC) based in the London Borough of Sutton, dedicated to supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. We currently provide a high-quality, personalised service to around 135 adults, helping them find purpose and empowerment in their daily lives as well as improving their overall wellbeing. Our approach centres around three key ‘purpose pods’: employability skills, health, and relationships. Daily sessions explore these areas through activities such as upcycling furniture, creating homeware, and making jams and chutneys. ‘Trainees’ (the adults with learning disabilities who we support) also have opportunities for paid employment in our social enterprise, Interestingly Different, or to develop valuable workplace skills in our recently opened coffee shop, Beans and Bloom. Cooking sessions focus on nutrition, healthy eating, and safe food preparation, while also offering a chance to socialise and enjoy shared meals. These experiences help trainees build independence and confidence, potentially reducing reliance on parents or carers. We also place a strong emphasis on physical and social wellbeing, with regular sessions in exercise, dance, meditation, and social interaction - fostering friendships and a sense of community. When surveyed, 100% of our trainees express feeling happier since joining Nickel Support.
