From her earliest days as a Yarmouth, Maine-based designer, Nicola Manganello was drawn to old houses and their stories. In the years since, Nicola has continued to develop her strong sense of design, often merging antique and contemporary styles to create spaces that immediately feel welcoming, comfortable and timeless. And while her design instincts continued to evolve, Nicola took on larger, more sophisticated projects, from complete renovations to full-scale real estate development - including Maeve’s Way, a 16 lot sub-division in Cumberland Foreside, Maine, where Nicola has designed, built and decorated 5 homes in her own inimitable style. “Every design decision I make is driven by my desire to create warmth and comfort- not just physical comfort but emotional comfort. Materials make a difference. Seating is conducive to conversation and relaxation. With many of the homes I design, I like to bring kitchen, dining, and living spaces together. Families gravitate toward these spaces and end up spending more time with one another. The right space can actually keep people together.” In addition to her design and design/build business, Nicola has designed textiles for Garnet Hill, opened a specialty home boutique, and launched a web store. All of Nicola’s enterprises share the common goal of helping people transform their houses into homes.
