About NIHR Exeter Biomedical Research Centre (BRC)
The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centre for Exeter (Exeter BRC) is the first of its kind in the South West Peninsula and one of a network of 20 nationwide. We are part of the NIHR and hosted by the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with the University of Exeter and NHS organisations. We use cutting edge translational research to improve health outcomes for patients and the public. By translating scientific breakthroughs into potential new treatments, diagnostics and medical technologies for the people of the South West, we are helping to address the biggest health issues affecting people in our communities today. At our core is our close relationship between the University of Exeter, NHS Royal Devon and our NHS partners, and crucially, patients, carers and families. This partnership, including St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, brings together world-class medical research leaders from across the region, including clinical and laboratory scientists, doctors, nurses, and data experts. The BRC represents an opportunity to leverage existing relationships with industry and develop new ones to benefit experimental medicine and translational research. Our partnership generates world-class research across five core themes, translating these discoveries into patient benefit as swiftly as possible.
