About NITV | Uvagut TV

For over 30 years, Nunavut Independent Television Network (originally Tarriaksuk Video Centre) has been committed to improving access to Inuktitut-language resources and preserving oral Inuktitut knowledge and traditions through internet and community TV broadcasting. NITV recognizes the rapidly evolving potential of digital technology to disseminate Inuit and Indigenous-language media in the 21st century through the internet, especially among geographically-remote, politically disadvantaged and marginalized communities with limited access to mainstream TV or film distribution systems. In 2021, NITV launched Uvagut TV, Canada's first 24/7 Inuktut television channel. Uvagut TV shares award-winning Inuktut films, documentaries, cultural programs, current affairs shows, interviews with elders, and 5 hours of daily kids shows. We are currently available to 600,000 subscribers of the Shaw, Arctic Co-op and local cable satellite networks across Canada. (Livestream & daily programming available online at uvagut.tv)
