About No Birthday Left Behind
No Birthday Left Behind is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit aspiring to provide every homeless shelter child an opportunity to celebrate their birthday in a special way! Message from the Founder: At 14, I had a moment of reflection that forever changed my life. Growing up, my birthday was always a grand occasion. I would wake up to balloons, cake, decorations, and a table full of presents. My parents would throw lavish parties with all my friends, and it always felt like the best day of the year. But one day, I was hit with a thought that stopped me in my tracks—what about the kids who don’t have what I have? It was at a service event when I met a group of children living in a shelter. As I spoke with them, I learned that for many, birthdays were just another day. They didn’t have cake, gifts, or celebrations. Their birthdays passed unnoticed, and it broke my heart. I had taken all those birthday celebrations for granted, never even considering how different life could be for a child without a permanent home, a family to celebrate them, or the resources to make their day special. The realization hit me hard; I knew I had to do something. That’s when the idea for my nonprofit, No Birthday Left Behind, was born. I wanted to bring joy and make birthdays matter for kids in shelters, giving them the same experience I had been so fortunate to have. I started small, volunteering at shelters and with the help of my family, I gathered donations—birthday cakes, decorations, small presents—and worked with shelters to make these celebrations happen. The first few parties were simple, but the impact was enormous. I’ll never forget the look on one girl’s face when she walked into a room full of balloons and a birthday cake with her name on it. She couldn’t stop smiling. It was the first time she had ever had a real birthday party, and it made me realize just how much these kids deserved the chance to feel loved and special, even if only for one day.
