About Noc On Wood Records
Noc On Wood Records was a family-owned independent record label based in the Pacific Northwest. Label artists included Nocturnal Rage, Mad Ro, Gator, Pop Du'Rilla, Fo' Feva, Street Kingz, E5th, and Reuster. Nocturnal Rage released several albums in the early 2000s for Noc On Wood Records, entitled The Labyrinth (2001), Nocturnal Rage (2002), and Way Out Your Mind (2005). They also recorded a remix to the single, Miss Mary Jane (2002), featuring the legendary funk icon Rick James. Other singles released were Miss Mary Jane (2002), It's Noc On Wood / Best That I Can (2003), Summertime in Seattle (2003), Way Out / H.O.MP (2005), and Revolution (2005). They released two DVD projects: The Genesis DVD (2003) and The Way Out Your Mind DVD (2005). The group became the house band of the 7th Season of Comedy Central's Premium Blend TV show hosted by comedian DL Hughley and their song "How Ya Feelin" became the show's series theme song. They also had sample music tracks on EA Sports MLB 2004/2005 and NHL 2005 video games. They toured across the USA and Europe doing shows as a three-emcee all-inclusive live band performing hip-hop music with a rock & roll edge. They opened for rap artists such as Wu-Tang Clan, Warren G, DJ Quik, MC Lyte, Twista, and 8-Ball & MJG. Mad Ro released an album for Noc On Wood Records entitled Out Tha Wood Werk (2002), which featured their hit single, Say That Then and garnished over 1,400 spins on college radio. Mad Ro achieved regional success with nine single releases receiving commercial radio airplay and performed with Ja Rule, LL Cool J, Ashanti, Toya, B2K, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Wu-Tang Clan, and NB Ridaz. Their third album, The Foul Stench of Something Good (2004) released with general fanfare. The label went on to build their own custom state-of-the art music studio called "The Woodwerk" and released several EP mixtapes, singles, and vinyl promoting other label artists before permanently shutting down in 2008 after seven years of operation.
