Nomad’s story began in 1997 when Alex Rutherford, founder and owner of Nomad, was fortunate enough to have conducted a trans-Africa expedition lasting almost a year. On that journey he encountered numerous companies offering trips to Africa. A void was noticed between strictly budget tours and the more upmarket operations. It was on that trip that the founding principle of Nomad was formed. Our success rests on consistently maintaining high standards, while still retaining the magic and passion that saw us grow so successfully. Still wholly independent, we remain owner-managed, ensuring passionate attention to quality tours every single day. Our belief is that it’s the total experience of the journey that is important.
