About Non Linear

Non Linear is a free full-time, 13 week intensive training course led by well-known creatives across music, art, design and film. The course will enable East Londoners aged 19 – 24 to unlock their talents, to incubate ideas, and grow their creative capacity so they can land a role in the creative industries or start their own business. There is a heavy emphasis in the course on filmmaking as a mechanism to harness and explore your creativity. Over 13 weeks we will get them in touch with their inner creativity from ideation, storytelling, financing, entrepreneurship, filming, creating podcasts, how to make a killer job application and how to respond to a brief. They will have masterclasses with industry professionals, technical skills-based workshops, guest lectures, inspirational bite-sized industry talks, fascinating field trips as well as a considerable time working within creative businesses to help them solve the real world creative challenges they face. The course curriculum is co-designed and co-delivered by Barking and Dagenham College, University College London and A New Direction. A New Direction is an award winning not for profit organisation generating opportunities for young people to develop their creativity. The course is also supported by The Mayor’s Fund for London and the Creativity Works programme which is funded by the Citi Foundation, and the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
