Designated as Akron's credible messenger by the Mayor of Akron, Marcel McDaniel is spearheading initiatives to address the city's public safety crisis. He is the architect behind the credible messenger program, which aims to create systemic change in community safety through authentic and empathetic engagement with individuals impacted by violence and incarceration. Marcel's commitment to mental health advocacy is exemplified by his hosting of "Mental Health Mondays," a monthly group therapy session that provides critical mental health support to community members who have previously been marginalized and neglected. These sessions, targeting some of the most at-risk individuals, are pivotal in offering much-needed mental health resources. As an expert specialist, Marcel has imparted his knowledge and experience by teaching reentry classes at South Street Ministries, mentoring formerly incarcerated individuals, and facilitating their successful reintegration into society.
