About North Humberside Motor Trades GTA

The GTA is run by the industry for the benefit of the industry and on a non-profit making basis. We were formed in 1972 by employers within the Retail Motor Industry with the support of the Industry Training Body, the Road Transport Industry Training Board. In 1990 we achieved charitable status and was able to maintain the GTA’s original mission “To provide, further and assist in the provision of training for persons employed or intending to be employed, in road transport activities”. We are committed to high quality training. We offer training and qualifications for motor vehicle apprenticeships in the auto care and motor vehicle maintenance and repair sectors. Providing young people with the education and support they need to start their career in this industry. We deliver full-time courses to 16-18 year olds and in 2017 we saw the need for local motor industry professional qualifications increase and now offer a range of high demand courses such as MOT New Tester, MOT Centre Manager, Light Vehicle Inspection, F-Gas, Hybrid and many more. In our first full Ofsted Inspection in November 2021 we were delighted to be graded Good in all areas. Although we have been delivering Apprenticeships for many years now, this was our first direct contract Ofsted Inspection. Other Ofsted Inspections that we have been involved in, have been through partner organisations. In 2018 we were delighted to be awarded the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Approved Centre - Outstanding Achievers Award. To our amazement the GTA were in the final 2 of 660 National and International Centres. All qualifications and apprenticeships at our college are delivered in conjunction with nationally recognised awarding organisations, such as the Institute of Motor Industry (IMI), AutoExel and the ABC Skills and Education Group Awards.
