Today we are going to discuss, myths about lawn care. One common myth is that by watering lawns in the late afternoon, we are saving water. The idea is that, if you water your lawn in the late evening, the sun won’t evaporate the water. This lets the water sink down into the grass, making it healthier. However, the water ends up pooling on top of the soil. This causes lawn fungus and diseases to sprout. In the end, you are trying to what’s best for your lawn, but you’re really harming it. Another common myth is that mowing my grass shorter, means that I won’t need to cut it as often as I should. By mowing it to short, the clippings on the grass could kill your original grass. Then when people see the short, brown grass; they think the lawn needs more water. This floods the grass, and then kills it. There are many more common myths we will discuss in future blogs.
