About North Shore Community Foundation

Our purpose is to accumulate and responsibly administer permanent capital that generates income to fund social, cultural, recreational and educational initiatives that directly benefit the residents of the North Shore. Our Foundation has a proud legacy of giving back to the communities of North and West Vancouver, Lion’s Bay and Bowen Island and is part of a network of over 180 Community Foundations across Canada. Some of these foundations date back decades, while others are more recent. What unites each, however, is a common desire to give back to their respective communities. The North Shore Community Foundation is no different. Since its establishment in 1988, the Foundation has granted over $1.5 million in financial assistance to a host of worthwhile community programs run by various registered charities here on the North Shore. From an initial endowment of $1,550 in 1989, our funds have grown through the generosity of many donors and benefactors. Today, the assets under management by the Foundation have grown to over $3 million. It is the investment income generated from these funds that allows us to provide grants assistance to deserving groups each year. Our mission is to accumulate and responsibly administer permanent capital that generates income to fund social, cultural, recreational and educational initiatives that directly benefit the residents of the North Shore.
