About North Walsham Rugby Club
As a Club we aim to keep it as fun as possible for all involved in playing, watching and enjoying rugby at North Walsham, while always respecting and upholding rugby’s core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship in everything we do. We are Norfolk’s Premier Club and one of the top 3 in East Anglia alongside Bury St Edmunds & Cambridge. 1st team (“The Vikings”) plays in the 4th tier league (National 2 East) putting us amongst England’s leading 80 Clubs. 3 adult male teams. 2nd team (“Raiders”) play 3 tiers below the Vikings in Eastern Counties One against first XVs from across East Anglia. Strong Partnerships with local Education providers – UEA, Easton College, Wensum Trust and our nearby “Vikings Schools.” Vibrant Youth & Minis (Y & M) section with teams from under 6 to 18. Mixed to under 10, when the Girls join our “Valkyries” squad which has under 12/14/16/18 sides. Half the 2022 -23 senior squad began in our Y & M; 70% were brought up in Norfolk. Seven hectare site at Scottow with 6 pitches. Home crowds average 500. Coaching team led by full time Director of Rugby Niall Lear, a Level 4 Coach and Teacher who has coached semi-professional sides and schools in the UK and Overseas. Strong links with Leicester Tigers. Jack van Poortvliet is the latest international to have begun his rugby journey at North Walsham.
