Northwood Carter are a small friendly firm of Chartered Building Surveyors with a history that goes back over 30 years. Our clients are wide ranging as is our work load. Based in North West London, the practice works throughout London, the Home Counties and the South-East, we often travel much further afield. We enjoy helping our clients find a path through the minefield that is owning, occupying, repairing and alterations so they get the best out of their long term asset. We have deliberately not specialised in one area of building surveying as a result we have wide experience and knowledge of all type and ages of buildings. Be they brand new or 400 years old we can help you steer a path through the minefield that is property ownership and occupation. Our core experience is knowing and understanding how buildings are put together. We use this knowledge to assist and advise our clients through the whole life cycle of ownership from advising on the initial acquisition by way of survey, due diligence and project monitoring. Along the way there are the inevitable repairs and alterations, the odd dipute (invariably over who pays!) through to final disposal which often involves a dilapidations claim. Property ownership and occupation is a long term affair, we will provide advice for what you should be doing now to avoid expensive mistakes later. For instance you could be stuck with inapproriate or onerous wording of repairing obligations in a lease. Areas of work we often get involved with include: - Investigating and remedying building defects and assisting in identifying responsibility - Repair & Refurbishment Projects. - Due Diligence & Pre-acquisition Surveys. - Party Wall advice. - Landlord & Tenant repairing obligations including dilapidations - Contract Administration. - Licences to Alter. - Licences for Access.
