About Nortoka

Nortoka is an independent software & 3D asset developer for the emerging virtual reality (VR) software platform. Our goal is to offer 3D assets, applications, experiences, & video games that are exclusively developed, designed, & optimised for taking advantage of the newly emerging VR platform. 3D Assets will be designed with their use as a VR actor / model in mind. This means that extra care will be afforded to the model's detail requirements as well as ensuring completion of areas that aren't modeled or textured on a standard model of the actor. Virtual reality provides a unique opportunity to offer powerful applications in an immersive & intuitive manner that was previously both unimagined & unheard of. This means that there will be entirely new genres of software application. We intend to explore what those genres are & might be while creating experiences to capitalise on them. As for existing software genres, we intend to use the elements unique to the VR medium (expansive, tactile, surreal, etc.) to optimise & improve upon the design of its desktop cousins. VR is an immersive environment, and it allows for storytelling far more real & vivid than you can find in any desktop computer game. We plan to explore the unique properties of VR game design in comparison with desktop games. We hope that this will allow us to discover medium-driven innovations in the same manner as with software utilities.
