♫Note Distinction offers online music instruction to high school aged students and beyond. Music Education doesn't have to be cost-prohibitive! The truth is, musical ability is a life-long pursuit. The traditional model sends young people off to a 4-5 year degree program that gives them a broad base of musical understanding. These programs are certainly challenging and can make great musicians. We would never seek to downplay this method of music education because it is truly the backbone of our musical culture in many ways. Our Owner/Founder has both a BA and an MM, but also taught in the public schools♫. But for the vast majority of musicians, there really is no need to accrue a "mortgage" worth of debt from a university/conservatory just to be instructed in practical techniques and methods! Why pay $45K-$75K if all you want to do is play in a band, or make beats? If the goal is to be a skilled musician, you really don't need a degree. Good music instruction gives you "information" to make you a better musician but GREAT music instruction ALWAYS includes a personal teacher! Note Distinction bridges the gap between online content and personal instruction by mixing elements of both... Musicians enrolled in Note Distinction have the benefit of self-paced online content in the form of videos and assignments. But after the content stops the teaching begins! On alternating weeks, musicians login to our bi-weekly "Live Q/A Sessions" where an actual flesh and blood instructor gives them feedback on their assignments, answers questions about the current lesson, and challenges students to apply what they have learned to their own music making! We offer many different courses that will increase musical understanding and challenge abilities in music-making. Whether someone is an instrumentalist, singer, rapper, producer, or song-writer, Note Distinction can help them become a better one! Note Distinction: Giving you what you need so you can MUSIC!
