About Nottingham Commercial Awareness Society

The Nottingham Commercial Awareness Society provides opportunities and knowledge to those seeking to enter commercial law. All prospective members do not have to be undertaking a law degree as the Society is open to all students who are interested in a legal career, regardless of discipline. The Society provides career-related events such as Commercial Case Study workshops, Commercial and Legal focused Newsletter updates, collaborative events with some of the leading law firms and much more! For the 2018/19 Academic Year, the Society's committee is driven by individuals that have secured first year schemes, vacation schemes and training contracts across a variety of the top city law firms. We hope to share that knowledge with our future members. Purpose: 'Commercial Awareness' is increasingly becoming an important 'skill' that candidates must possess to gain employment at the top city firms. As clients demand for more competitive cost pricing and the best expertise, law firms have had to adapt by providing advice that goes beyond black letter law. It is only natural that the candidates they seek reflect the type of lawyers they currently have. Our society hopes to demystify some of the assessment processes typically used at law firms, based on real experiences. We also aim to help you understand how to develop your commercial awareness for your future applications!
