About NOVA Biotech Club

NOVA’s mission is to educate and empower students to explore the rapidly evolving field of biotechnology while cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset. Our club will serve as a launchpad for students eager to innovate, offering them the platform, mentorship, and networks to turn ideas into impactful ventures. By bringing together future scientists, business leaders, and changemakers, we aim to revitalize the entrepreneurial spirit on campus. Our operations will center around three key pillars: 1. Biotechnology Newsletter: Bi-weekly, NOVA members will meet for an hour to present their findings within the world of biotech. This could be an interesting new technology they've discovered, a new company conducting meaningful research, or even individual biotech founders or members making strides within their fields. We will also invite undergraduate researchers working on relevant topics to present their work. Additionally, a portion of each meeting will be open to STEM clubs and local organizations to promote their initiatives and connect with our community. The content discussed in the meeting would then be compiled and published in our newsletter that is released to all members. 2. Professional Events: NOVA will leverage its connections within the biotech world to plan and conduct speaker and networking events. This will allow members to connect with real firms and real people, opening their eyes to the biotech industry. 3. Hands-On Learning: NOVA will host interdisciplinary case competitions and “buildathons” in partnership with McGill clubs, Montreal-based companies, and other universities across North America. These events will challenge students to solve pressing biotech and sustainability problems, encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork.
