About NurtureHer Foundation

NurtureHer is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that mothers are effectively educated on how to properly feed their babies to improve healthy living. We nurture mothers by providing necessary and adequate nutritional information about how to properly feed their babies and also provide pregnant women with how to improve nutrition to aid in safe and healthy delivery. Proper nutrition during and after pregnancy is crucial for the health and well-being of both mothers and their children. Studies have shown that good nutrition during pregnancy supports healthy fetal development, reduces the risk of birth defects like spina bifida, and helps prevent maternal complications such as gestational diabetes, anemia, and pre-eclampsia. Adequate nutrition also helps maintain energy levels, reduces fatigue, and supports overall well-being in mothers. In Ghana, malnutrition remains a significant challenge, particularly among young children. Statistics indicate that 18% of children under the age of five are stunted, 6% are wasted, and 12% are underweight, reflecting the severe impact of inadequate nutrition during early childhood. Additionally, 41% of children aged 6–23 months met the minimum dietary diversity requirement, highlighting the complexity of nutritional issues in the country.
