About NYC Empower-ED
Empower-ED is a student-led initiative based in Stuyvesant High School that supports underrepresented and underserved middle schoolers in navigating the NYC high school admissions process. Through free, high-quality tutoring, mentorship, and workshops, we help families understand their options, prepare for academic benchmarks, and feel confident in their next steps. With 100 members and counting, Empower-ED is a growing network of high school volunteers passionate about educational equity. Our work spans one-on-one tutoring, fundraising, public seminars, and partnerships with schools across New York City. We believe that access to quality education and opportunity shouldn't be based on privilege.
